A former undone Duck Blind? Shooters could come here at 4am , sit, wait, and shoot ducks. Send their dogs out to collect them. The Blind would have a sheet of plywood on a couple of sides.

....or a place where the walkers on the canal could step out to pull in the boats to the side ? Kind of a Dock. If there were several boats coming and going, this could help straighten a jam up . A Pull Over of sorts ?
